Product Description
How would you like to have excellent protection against viruses and other malicious files, without having to know exactly how to configure all the various settings? How would you like to not get a notification every time a scan is done, or to ask what you want to do about a suspect file? If you answered that you would like those attributes very much, than Bitdefender Total Security 2012 is for you.
Along with antivirus features, you also get malware protection, an above-average firewall, antiphishing, parental controls, remote management features, online 'in the cloud' backup, credit monitoring, social network link protection, privacy control, ability to clear temporary files via the Tune-Up feature, and antispam filtering. Wow, all that in one easy-to-use software.
However, the feature that many will flock to Bitdefender for just might be the Autopilot feature. Once enabled, this feature automatically protects your personal data and computer from potential threats, scans your system when not in use, updates silently, and much more.
Though the installation may take a bit longer than you would care, the reason being is it's pre-install scanning of your system to ensure you have not infected by a virus or malware that would hamper any installation process. By that, I mean, if it detects spyware/other, it may recommend you scan, clean and/or remove the infected files outside of the operating system. I recommend using Bitdefender's Rescue CD; see: Using Bitdefender Rescue CD
An additional observation, was the ability to have multiple security software installed at the time of installation has been removed. Should you have something like Malwarebytes installed, Bitdefender will prompt you to remove such prior to installing. If you prefer, you can install the other security software back on after the Bitdefender installation. However, just make certain you never have more than one security software 'actively' scanning your computer, as this will cause problems.
Bottom line; Bitdefender Total Security 2012 is a no brainer when it comes to securing your computer and data residing on it. Don't just take my word for it, read the reviews below.
