Is your computer infected by a virus? If you know for sure, or you have started to receive error messages, it is time to do a thorough scan of your system. The best known to do so will be from outside your computer’s operating system, and this article, we’ll discover how to set up and use the BitDefender Rescue CD to clean your infected computer.
Personally, I run BitDefender security software on all my computers, and have done so for many years. I find it is thorough and updated often.
Even with good security software installed, there is always a chance your computer can become infected with a virus. For that reason, I take it to another level, and use the BitDefender Rescue CD to regularly scan my entire system. This may seem overkill, but it’s a lot let tedious than trying to recover data and clean out viruses after the fact.
There are a couple ways to use the BitDefender Rescue CD; either on a, well, CD, or on a bootable USB flash drive. The set up is fairly easy, and you should have no complications in the use of it.
To use the basic Rescue CD…
To use the bootable USB flash drive option…
Once you have created your Rescue CD or bootable USB flash drive, it’s time to test it out.
If you are going to use the USB flash drive option, make sure you can boot to it. Ensure your computer’s BIOS is compatible of booting to USB, then you can either set USB as a boot option, or use F5 or F12 during initial boot to bring up the boot menu.
Upon booting to the USB flash drive, or Rescue CD, you are presented with a menu of selectable options, one being the option to Start BitDefender Rescue CD in ‘LANGUAGE’.
The boot disc provides many options and utilities, such as adjusting your display. Or, you can just move to start using the BitDefender On-demand Antivirus Scanner.
One of the utilities is called TestDisk. This utility can be used to recover data.
